From: Mac Subject: Better handling cars (stock) that Sean's Miata?? Date: Thu, 5 Jan 1995 02:03:23 -0500
Subj: do I need to unzip window for top down driving? From: scrandel@sdcc13.ucsd.edu (S. Crandell I just got my Miata. :) :) :) I am in love. This is the best car I have ever driven. I've driven cars that are faster and handle better, Sean, I would stick with your first and second statements. About your third statement I am sure you have driven faster accelerating cars that the Miata. It is not exactly a drag racing speed demon, at least not without a Supercharger. I seriously doubt you have driven a better handling, easier to drive quickly, more forgiving, factory STOCK automobile. I don't know about a '90 A but my '95 is the nimblest, best handling stock car I have ever driven, AND it handles far better than many "dialed-in" race cars I have driven and I am not talking about crap either. Stock vehicles that come close to the Miata would have to be a Porsche 944, a Lotus Super 7, maybe a GrpB Ford RS 200. It handles far better than the "exotics" people drool over. Ever pushed a Ferrari 308 or 348? Wanna talk about difficult? Pushes into practically every corner unless you adapt a new (What I call Ferrari.) braking style, dive hard on the brakes deep into the turn to keep the nose planted and the weight tranferred to the front tires otherwise its scrub scrub scrub push push push. At least the 348 Challenge cars are a little better but by no means are they as nimble as the Miata. I would compare the nimbleness input responsiveness to a Swift DB-4 Formula Ford. OK so maybe I am exagerating a little. But I had my Miata for 2 weeks and I took it to Texas World SpeedWay and I was really pleased about my purchase after I took 1 hot lap in the car. The smile must have lasted for hours. My 2 cents, -Mac. '95 Montego Blue - Leather 1994 Ferrari of Houston 348 Challenge - Driving Instructor
