Hi, this is Kansei here - my people were kind enough to allow me to interface my ECU with their computer, and reply to your message. Actually, I kind of like their naming me "Kansei," since Japanese is my native language. My name really didn't start out that way - Jack & Anne, my drivers, just wanted a neat personalized license plate for me, something that would stand out from the crowd. In my native language, the Japanese word "kansei" (as it is spelled in English) translates roughly to "it just feels right." Mazda used the "kansei" thing in their advertising back when I was built and first came to the U.S. Jack & Anne remembered that, and got my very own personalized license plates using the "kansei" word. Since then, I've sort of become known by that name, so I guess you could say it's my name. Anyway, I like it a LOT better than just "MX-5" or even "Miata," since all my brothers and sisters are called that. So, Yes, I guess you could say they named me, but it came more from my Maryland state license ID, than an actual name, at least initially. Anyway, if you happen to see my license plates if we pass each other sometime, you'll know that's my name, too. By the way, Jack & Anne take very good care of me. They say that when I get my newly installed cruise control working, and when I get my turbocharger installed, that I'll be just about perfect. Anne drives me very conservatively, which is good, as scary as it is around Washington, DC. But Jack is the best driver I've ever seen anywhere - he's really GREAT!! (Actually, he told me to say that - he said he wouldn't take me to any more autocrosses unless I said that.) --KANSEI-- (Driven by Jack & Anne M.)
