From: a.mccombs3@genie.geis.com Subject: do I need to unzip window for Date: Thu, 5 Jan 1995 18:57:51 -0500
You no doubt have lots of replies on this by now, but FWIW: No, you don't have to unzip the rear window to put the top down - you can leave the window zipped up all the time, and it does make putting the top up and down somewhat easier and quicker. HOWEVER: Be prepared to develop a horizontal crack across the center of your rear window after a period of time (one year? -two years? -more? -less?) -depending upon how often you raise and lower the top, and what the temperature of the rear window is at the time. Rear window replacements may run from a couple hundred bucks or so, for an aftermarket unit sewn in by a convertible top shop, to somewhat more for a dealer installed replacement, including the zipper portion and all. Ya pays yer money, ya takes yer choice. BTW, we almost always unzip before going topless, ourselves. --Jack M. & KANSEI--
