Originally SL was for, as a mercedes techie put it "super light" as the closest thing he could come to for the german that this two letters once stood for. Certainly the original 300SL's of lore qualify, even though their desendants are much heavier and larger. Also, I would put Civic Del Sol's in the SPORTY catagory, definately lower than Miatas. I saw the Road and Track article that said the Del Sol si was good. But then again, how long did it take Honda to essentially soup up their tender little sporty coupe? It was after lots of gripes from CRX/si fans that went and bought other cars. Mazda must not want to get caught in some power war or they could easily work a little magic on the miata (read the old 323's turbo engine) and larger tires, etc and blow the doors off that funny little honda. -- ======================================================================| Barry A.
