Folks,

  My girlfriend and her Miata moved into town and now need a local
  mechanic to tend for it.  I'd appreciate hearing recommendations for
  the San Francisco Peninsula (and places to avoid!)

  On the other hand, how many folks out there do their own
  maintenance?  Are there good howto books and repair manuals out
  there?  Is the Miata friendly to the home mechanic?

  The Miata FAQ was quite good, thanks.  Perhaps my question should be
  added to it?  Please send your answers to me directly for I am not
  on the list.  I will be delighted to summarize the responses if
  there is demand.
