I've had some similar experiences with isolationist yahoos including some arguements with those that find it better to drive GM Camaros (imported from Canada) than Mazda pickup trucks (reskinned Ford Rangers, just about 100% American made) go figure. But the most interesting experience I had with the Miata was just the opposite. On my way home from work one evening, I stopped to get gas in fasionable Taylor-tucky. While filling up, I noticed a scruffy, bearded man wearing dirty overalls walking toward me and my sparkling clean Miata. I noticed he had finished filling his beat-up Ford pickup truck, and I was fearing the worst. He started by asking if I liked my little Miata and said that it was one of their's. Caught completely by surprise for a second, I probably had the strangest look on my face as I noticed a Mazda patch on his overalls. I quickly recovered and we talked for about 10 minutes. He worked at the Mazda plant in Flat Rock and I mentioned that I work for one of their suppliers. The whole conversation was a pleasent and surprising experience. With the exception of a few bad examples, I would have to say I've met the nicest people with my Miata. I hope the same can be said for the rest of you. Steve T. sgt@edgewood.com
