Neat idea, Ken, RE: slowing down before the off ramp so you can pick it up without a pickemup in front of you. Doesn't work around DC. Seems that whenever I approach an off ramp, someone will hurry past in the left lane, only to get in front of me and go slowly around the ramp. That generally isn't the worst part. I've come to expect what happens next: They STOP at the end of the ramp, without using the merge lane to accelerate up to the traffic flow! That led to some excitement the first couple times after I moved back here, until I learned not to devote my attention too undividedly to the upcoming traffic, to plan a smooth merge. The more crowded the area, the more there seems to be a tendency of "the hell with everyone else, I'm the only one important around here." I guess it's worth it for the interesting work we both have, and the $$, but we've pretty much decided that it's back to a small town when we retire. I want to live in a place where the zoo doesn't encompass the whole damn city. --Jack & Anne & KANSEI--
