From: Gary.Beck@Eng.Sun.COM (Gary Beck) Subject: Upholstery Damage from Racing Beat Style Bar Date: Wed, 1 Feb 1995 15:52:44 -0500
I just put my top down for the first time this year yesterday, and noticed a tear on the drivers seat when I slid it forward to put on the tonneau cover. Recently, the seat has been upright and all the way back which slightly compresses the outside top of the headrest against my Racing Beat Style bar. It seems there is a thin steel plate inside the headrest that has cut through the foam padding, the vinyl on the side of the headrest, and is cutting into the vinyl cover of the style bar. Has anyone else had this problem? Know of any fixes to avoid further damage? I can think of only a couple of things: - unzip the style bar cover to above the headrest and hope it provides enough clearance - "tilt" the seat inward by putting some washers under one side of the seat mounting rails. This may tip the headrest in several tenths of inches to relieve the pressure. Any suggestions? -gbeck
