I too had a "chip" on my windshield (91 B). Fortunately it was small enough for me to try one of those windshield repair liquids from Pep Boys. The cost was about $10.00 and took an afternoon to do plus an overnight for drying. The job was successful! The unit was easy to handle and more time consuming than difficult to do. The repair was 99% covered. I can still see a small mark but nothing like before. This worked out better than my Plymouth Acclaim whose windshield had three big hits. I was going to use the repair liquid until I realized that my insurance company would pay for the repair of a windshield if they did not have to replace it. So I got a repair slip, went to their shop and left the car. I had a $250 deductable and wouldn't you know it, when the shop checked the cracks with air pressure, they cracked the rest of the glass. Surprise, surprise. The new windshield only cost $220.00. To be fair, I was suspicious of one of the cracks as it was a "star" and the repair liquid info showed that a "star" crack will not work. The glass has to have a crack internally rather than a surface crack in order to work. A "star" crack will continue to split. Mike G. 91 Red B Del Val Miata Club Goin' to Rock & Roll
