I am lucking enough to have 2 miatas in my garage. A '90 white and a '90 red. However, the white one's performance (acceleration) is way better than that of the red one. Red: A pkg, A/C. White: Base. Everytime we have raced with as equal variables as possible (eg. launching at same RPMs etc.) the white one is a good 2 car lengths ahead at about 50mph, and keeps on gaining) I know the red one would weigh more because of the options (note AC is off in all these 'tests'), but even with an extra person and more gas in the white, it still is faster than the red. The white constantly beats quicker cars in races such as Acuras etc, while the red will lose drags to lowly Civics. The white one even HAS more kms on it (140,000 v. 87,000km). The white one does seem to have a rougher sounding engine to it... Can anyone explain... (I usually drive the red one!) -- Kurt A. Sunn Osgoode Hall Law School yku02443@yorku.ca
