I have a collection Miata-related tips & hints extracted from past miata-list threads, and I've recently organized it into a hypermail index (see http://www.eit.com/software/hypermail/hypermail.html for more details about hypermail). This allows me to access the information (which is basically a collection of Unix mail files) quickly and easily via a web browser like Mosaic or Netscape. The tips and hints cover a wide range of topics, much of which is not really addressed in the current FAQ. Unfortunately, I can't serve this information directly to the Internet. I currently have this on a local web server I'm running here at work, which is behind a firewall. My Internet service provider (netcom) doesn't have a Web server available yet; and the ftp access into their machine is quite slow and sometimes hard to get to, so I don't really want to use ftp as the transfer method to serve these web pages. If you're interested in this Miata tips hypermail index (assuming, of course you're be willing to store about 3.5 Mb of html files on your machine), I've created a Unix tar archive of the relevant directory and placed it into my anonymous ftp account at ftp://ftp.netcom.com/pub/ja/jaimev/Miata/tips.tar (The Unix "sum" command returns a "56368 3480" checksum for this file.) For space reasons, I'll have to delete this in about a week or so. When you retrieve this file (use binary mode in ftp), you can un-tar it with.. % tar xvf tips.tar This creates a directory called Miata_Tips, full of html files. There's a file in there called index.html which you can point to. That's the "master" page for all the tips files. If any of you Web-meisters decide to give this index a good home on your Web server and allow access to it from the Internet, let the miata-list know! I'm sure many people would love to have a point-and-click interface to FAQ type material. - jaime villacorte jaimev@netcom.com || jaime@tcville.es.hac.com Miata License Plate list: ftp://ftp.netcom.com/pub/ja/jaimev/Miata/plates
