While installing my new CD player this evening I think I stumbled across the solution to a minor problem that has been mentioned 'round these parts before. I'm speaking of the infamous high-pitched whistling sound that can be heard (sometimes) when the AC/Heat fan is on high. While I had the eyeball vents out I noticed that the inside end of the center section is hollow! (I'm talking about the part you move around to direct the air flow.) When the eyeballs are popped back in this little hollow end is sitting there ready for the fan to blow air directly at it. To test my theory I gently blew into the little hollow end and guess what?... Yep, it whistled! Just like a soda pop bottle only smaller! I searched around the workbench and found a couple of brass screws that were just the right size to screw into and plug these little hollow ends. Upon re-installing the vents and taking the car for a little test run with the fan on high...NO MORE WHISTLE! YEAH!! I am hoping that the little brass screws will also serve as small counter-weights that will help to keep the vents from dropping down toward the floor as they frequently like to do when I first turn on the AC. I'll likely be taking a long drive (200+ miles) on Monday and I'll report my findings re: if the whistle is gone for good. Mark '92 B Classic Red Member: MCA SOCALM TEAM VOODOO
