Out of round tires are a common cause of shakes in cars - either because of flat spotting during braking or because they came that way from the supplier. I've had more problems with out of round tires purchased mail order, than with tires purchased locally. I know there has been a lot of stuff RE: Mail order tire sources, but I'd rather pay a bit more (if any, actually) and buy locally. Yeah, they can sell out of round tires too, but at least when you take it back, they can take care of it on the spot. A reputable mail order firm would also take care of it, but I don't care for running around on the dinky spare for a week while the tire goes back. Plus, you still have to pay the locals to dismount the tire, remount the new tire, and balance the new tire all over again if you bought mail order. If you buy local, they should take care of the second time around for free. YMMV-- --Jack M. & KANSEI--
