Date: Mon, 27 Mar 1995 05:43:14 -0500 Hey, Jim, go for it - you can start selling H-4 micro adjuster kits, mail order, for the Miata. You might even get a few orders! (First, I have to get the H-4s, myself.) --jack M. & KANSEI-- ÿ ============================================================================== >From archive-owner Mon Mar 27 07:24:50 1995 From: dherr@extro.ucc.su.OZ.AU (Dennis J. HeRR) Subject: shift Date: Mon, 27 Mar 1995 07:24:23 -0500 I think this must discussed numerous times in the past but since I don't have the archive and won't get 'em all, here's the question. When I start from the standing still and shift to the second around 4500 rpm, I can gently bring the knob into the second and it'll slide into it with slight hesitation. But it takes too much time and sometimes I have no choice but force it into - I think I feel the grinding inside MT. :) Also similar thing happens from second to third. Now I read somewhere - I think it was some kind of driving technique book for German sport cars. - in that the author said push gently the shift knob into the second and at the right moment, it'll slide into it with easy. He also said never force it into other slot. Is it true? Am I doing something wrong by forcing into the second and third too quickly? BTW, thanks again guys for suggestion. Now I think it takes me only few seconds to leach 80 kph at third. :) Of course, there's no police car behind me! I guess free flow exhaust system helps too. Dennis (^_^; p.s. Has anyone tried this gadget called Cyclon or Hiclon? My mechanic mate gave it to me as a present and I installed it inside air intake hose just before it goes into the engine. It's small cylinder tube with small turbine inside. The theory behind is the turbine wll rotate inside the sir intake hose and generate the air flow similar cyclone - hence its name - and this flow of air gives more complete combustion inside engine which gives slightly more power. Well, I dunno. BTW is your car goes up to 1200 rpm when first started in the morning and after few minutes goes down to 800 rpm? Mine does all the time - I can't remember if it did before I put this thing in. /\_/\ "Truth and falsehood are both whatever, and ( - - ) simultaneously not so, rather than not." ==_Y_== '-' Dennis J. If yours third party, that is with two small bumps to allow seats stay where they are unlike Mazda one, how much did you pay for and where did you get it? Mazda dealer asks over A$1000 which IMO way too much. :) Do you you the rear vinyl window replacement kit is A$780? :-O Dennis (^_^; p.s. Just last week I brought my car in to a local dealership (not where I bought my car) to get the soft top zipper fixed (you know how it gets stuck just behind the driver's seat ...). The work was to be covered under the 3yr/50,000 mile warranty. The local dealership ran the vehicle identification number through corporate Mazda's computer system to verify the warranty, and alarmingly told me that the car was "put into service" 9 months prior to when I purchased the car! This means that the warranty started in Sept '91 and expired on Sept '94. Either the dealership sold me a used car as new, or they used it as a demo car, or one of the salespeople drove it around - in any case, the warranty would have begun on this Sept date, but they NEVER told me. I was sold the car as NEW with a NEW warranty. I've called Mazda in California, and basically they say it is a problem that I have to resolve with the dealership from where I purchased my car. Additionally, this same dealership delivered a 1991 hard top for my new 92 car when I purchased it. I knew it was not on the up-and-up, because the hard top they delivered did not have a rear window defroster, and 92 was the first year it came standard with the hard top. To make a long story short, I took them to court, settled in mediation, they made a feeble attempt to add a do-it-yourself defroster to my hard top, it no longer works
