Just a follow up on the discussion about the clear acrylic license plate cover that has been discussed here: For those that may have forgotten, someone asked if a clear front plate cover being offered for $35 was a plausible and cost-effective way to prevent LIDAR tickets. I just wanted to add that I saw another, related product that I thought was great. The product I am referring to is used to defend against that insidious monster, photo radar. For the three people on the planet not familiar with photo radar, it's a machine that sits on the side of the road taking pictures of cars that it clocks faster than the speed limit. Tickets with photo are then mailed to the owner of the car, determined by the picture of the front plate. The product is a polarized filter that turns black if looked at from an angle of >20 degrees from the side. Since photo radar works by aiming at the cars from something like a 26 degree angle, this will give the machine a nice picture of your car, but with the front place blacked out. No tag, no ticket. Ideally, Mister Cop won't notice this thing if he pulls you over since he won't be looking at the plate from such an angle. Of course, both photo radar and this device are useless if you are in a state with no front tags. But, if you are in a place that uses this evil technology, this seems like a great way to get around it. I saw this thing in an old Car and Driver, which I can look up if people are interested in buying it. +------------------------------------------------------+ |Marc Gorelick--mgorelick@aas.com--PMH Caramanning, Inc| +------------------------------------------------------+
