  Taking off the Cat will reduce the friction, and you'll gain more HP.
 However, you'll lose your backpressure which is important on low torque.
   If you have better air intake system and stuff such as Turbo, Changing it
to straight pipe will give you a lot of power, but as for Miata, you won't
see that much of results.  Just get a better header and exhaust, and that
should be good enough.  Besides, that's illegal in our state....  (I don't
know about your place)
