Ken A device called an "Easy Out" exists for this situation. I have even seen them in grocery stores. It is a device much like a wood screw only with a *left* hand thread. They come in different sizes usually in a small kit 4-5 pieces like drill bits for $4.00 or so. The way they work: You drill a hole in the remaining stub. Take the Easy Out and screw it into the hole (remember a left thread turns the opposite) The easy out like a wood screw is tapered so the tighter you get it the more pressure you are applying to the original stud to unscrew. Try to drill a hole of a size that the expanding pressure will not actually expand the stud... for obvious reasons. They come with a square head on them much like a tap. You may even be able to use a tap handle on them, otherwise just a small wrench should do. Good Luck Arch Archie Glasgow Elect. Eng. Techn. University of Windsor Bio. Sci. arch@server.uwindsor.ca
