Hmm, a chance to be useful. For subtractive color mixing (using filters and paints) RED and GREEN should yield black together, since a red filter should block both blue and green, and a green filter should block blue and red. This is if we are talking about "primary" red, blue, and green. The miata dash seems to be a very light green, so I imagine the filters are passing some blue and red as well. (The filters on the back of the flat panel, I mean, not the ones over the bulbs) So there shouldn't be a problem, a priori. I don't know how bright they'll end up if you replace the "green plastic tubes" over the lights with red ones, but I'm really curious to find out. I've been wanting the "BMW/Submarine" look someone else mentioned...I've just not got around to experiments with bulbs, filters, and paints. If I get something useful, I'll let you all know. I believe the reason for red/amber is that it doesn't affect your night vision as much. Anyone know if this is the case for sure? And why would that be useful in submarines? -Dave David K.
