From: dherr@extro.ucc.su.OZ.AU (Dennis J. HeRR) Subject: cold air induction system from OZ :) Date: Tue, 2 May 1995 04:30:11 -0400
Today I went to the Miatasport Performance Accessories - it's the first specialist shop for Mazda MX-5 In Sydney AFAIK. There I saw this cold air induction box offered at reasonable price. It's basically a big box made of thermal resistance material and it connect the air flow sensor assembly and the bulkhead where the wind screen washer bottle is. You need to cut out a small hole and put the box between the hole and the sensor. The whole setup makes the air intake a straight line which I think better than other systems in which many of them use bent pipes and etc. Since you leave out the air flow sensor in factory setup, there won't be any difficulties with the law and with K&N air filter in the whole system gives out welcome torque boost as well as around 134 hp from 1.6L type B engine. For the seats I talked before, I got the call from the manufacturer. They reckon my seats will be ready in two weeks time and they won't charge extra for my request for slight modifications. When I get 'em I'll see if I can get a scan of photo so you can see what they look like. (I think unless you keep the hard top all the time, go for the black colour. With bright colour and logo - RECARO, RPM, or others - it'll be the advertisement for car thief. I also checked out few auto trim shops for the tonneau cover. It seems they all willing to make one for my specification at around A$250 when my local Mazda dealer want over A$1000 - A$1250 to be exact. :( The small catch is I need to find that Mazda tonneau cover hooks and metal bracket that goes between side mirrors. I tried Mazda parts department but the guys at there have no idea what the tonneau cover is. :( Could somebody help me? I'm sure they are available as parts - these hooks look quite fragile. Dennis (^_^; p.s. The air box I mentioned sold around A$445 which I think at around U$320 at the current exchange rate - yes, it's developed in here and the guy who developed want to sell in Japan. ,,, (. .) o-oOO--(_)--OOo----------------------------------------------------o | "Truth and falsehood are both whatever, and | | simultaneously not so, rather than not." | | /\_/\ _ | | ( - - ) Dennis J.
