Does someone know what kind of things can be removed from the stock Miata to make it lighter? Also which components can be replaced with lighter version? I'm going to get the CAMS license and will participate in racing near future - no I'm not going to use Momo chan. :) I'll buy cheapest Miata I can find and convert it into the racing version at low budget. So any thing can be removed will be removed to save the weight - I think with the lighter weight and tuned engine will gives much better performance than even the Clubman conversion. I know all carpet, small accessories, most of vinyl interior covers can be removed - how much I'll save by this way? I'll also need ultra light thin racing seat instead of bulky(?) stock seats. What kind of things can be removed from the engine bay? Or should I swap the engine to say, Mustang HO 5.0L? Has anyone recently been to wrecking yard specializing in Mazda? I went last weekend and boy! it was quite a sight. They have rows of perfectly working parts from written off Mazda cars including Miata - some of company fleet actually use Miata - MX-5 here :) - and many of them are written off due to negligence and/or accidents. The only bad thing about is the price isn't that low and sometimes almost same as brand new. :( Though it'll come in handy if I have second engine lying around so I can save time when it comes to rebuild engine. Anyway, ATM I'm waiting for few parts to add into Momo chan - custom racing bucket seats, 5-point harness, low profile headlights, cold air induction box, extractor, strut tower bar and roll bar, tonneau cover, supercharger... Thank you for reading all my rambling mate.
