Ok...I too wanted to try Cold Air Induction...CHEAP. Presently
have such for about $10 :-)
 
Used flexible 3" aluminum pipe from H/W store, rubber sewer pipe
adaptor 2.5" to 2", and a 3" hose clamp. The flexible alumninum pipe
can be lengthened or shortened, ( max 8'). Slipped rubber adaptor
in pipe, and routed pipe up, around etc until it ends up right
behind hood latch. Looks a little wierd, makes some interesting
buzzes and growls with throttle wide open at several different RPMs
not obnoxious, interesting noises.
 
Well it does seem to work :-) miata definitly feels quicker.
 
Its been an interesting experiment, be forewarned, if you try it, the\
3" pipe does contact the hood and will eventually scratch the paint
off in a few locations.
