Regarding the recently info about the M Speedster listed as One of the Top 20 Cars Worth Waiting For -- The magazine printed a few errors. What the article should have mentioned is: 1. The M Speedster is NOT turbocharged. It has an intercooled Lysholm Supercharger. 2. It is only a concept vehicle. It is a styling exercise and not intended for future sale, especially in the configuration presented at the world debut at the Chicago Auto Show on 10 Feb 95 (It has no provisions for side windows or a top of any kind, and the 1/2 height windshield is not DOT-appproved.) 3. Mazda said they were STILL working on the powerplant design and had a GOAL of at least 200 hp. They are committed to remaining with a 4-cylinder engine. 4. Mazda said nothing about a 1997 introduction date and certainly avoided answering all queries about projected sales prices. 5. SOME of the M Speedster features MAY be seen in future Miata model years, but don't expect to see the exact M Speedster from the auto show in your Mazda dealer's showroom. Cheers, DRAKE A.
