It appears that Steve Cobb has hit upon the window browning process. Any localized extreme heating (e. g., water droplets acting as lenses and focusing the sun's rays locally) appears to cook the plastic, and discolor it. The (even slightly) discolored plastic tends to absorb more heat than clear plastic, which makes it turn a bit browner ... etc. Along with the browning, the plastic becomes more brittle in those locations. So: I wonder if UV really has much to do with it? I'm still gonna get that glass rear window one of these days - --Jack M. & KANSEI--
