Just think.  In some circles, this would be received with a frown. . . . 



I've used an orbital polisher (but not on my Miata), and had poor results.  
Don't let that stop you, though, because it definitely could have been 
operator error.  I personally prefer "bonding" with the car (GET A LIFE!  :-)
by hand-waxing it, mostly because I'm in better control of where and how I
apply polish and wax, and that gives me peace of mind that I won't do
any damage.
