If you are using 100% cotton towels then you are in good shape. Don't worry about the terry part. As for Meguiar's comments.... Here is both product descriptions directly from Meguiar's brochure: Swirl Remover #9 - This cleaner/polish is specially blended to give a deep, dark shine while removing light scratches, swirl marks and other light defects from all paint finishes. In one quick step, Swirl Remover creates a dramatic high gloss shine by hand or machine. ShowCar Glaze #7 - Famous on the car show circuit, this hand applied polish is specially formulated to nourish all paint finishes with rich polishing oils wich restore a dazzling, deep, wet-look shine. This premium plish will outshine all other hand applied polishes, glazes, waxes, and sealants, and never dries white, or with a powdery residue. As you can see, #9 is a CLEANER/polish and #7 is only a polish. #9 does not, apparently, contain polishing oils that noursish the paint while #7 doesn't contain any cleaner properties that would remove swirl marks and light scratches. The two products are most definitely different. GRANTED...if you car is swirl and scratch free then there is NO reason to use the #9 first. In fact, I only use the #9 about every second or third time I polish and wax the Miata. Mark - '92 B Classic Red, MCA, SOCALM, Team Voodoo, Team Clearwater
