When someone backed into my car, I drew up a brief document saying that the
person who hit me had:
1) hit my car and damaged the _____
2) would assume complete financial and legal liability
3) would pay to have my car fixed to my satisfaction
4) The date, time and conditions of the accident

This way, the um, person, who hit you can't change his/her mind later and IMO
this kind of document does give you a fair amount of legal recourse if it
comes down to it.

I hope you never need to do this.
