Greetings to all in Miataville, Here is a copy of my original post; **********Begin********* I have recently purchased a '94 white Miata R for my wife (at least that= 's the story that i'm sticking with ;) ). The original owner had the car "granatized" at the the time of purchase. Should I treat the paint in th= e same manner as any other vehicle or does this coating obviate the need fo= r wax, polish, etc...? Thanks in advance, Lance Buchanan White '94 R (When she lets me drive it) Team-less ***********End********** Hearing no responses from any learned "Miataphiles," I called the dealership. The dealership referred me to a company called "Dealer Auto Services." The man that I spoke with there advised me that I needed to b= uy a "special" cleaning kit that they sell for $30 called Final Touch. He sai= d that the kit was regularly $60 but they really want to see people take c= are of their cars. When I advised him that all of the recommendations that I= had read recommended Meguiar=92s products he replied, =93Meguiar=92s is OK b= ut it=92s outdated.=94 Remembering an old adage by P.T. Barnum about a fool and th= eir money, I advised the man that I would get back with him. Questions: 1. What is the best way to care for our new addition to the family? 2. Is it safe to use Meguiar=92s products (#1, #2, #4, #7, #9) on a vehicle that has been treated with this coating? 3. Should I even care that this vehicle has been treated with this coati= ng? 4. Am I being overly cynical about this company=92s =93concern=94 for t= he well-being of my wife=92s Miata? Sorry for taking up so much bandwidth, Lance Buchanan San Diego, CA.
