There were several >other floats, people, etc. that were just starting the parade when we were >all done. > I wasn't in a parade today, but I have been before. In fact, one of them was in Norman for the Founder's Day parade a couple of years ago. Myself and a couple of other members from NEO Miata joined the OKC bunch. We hauled some former OU All-American football players. It didn't mean much to me since I went to OSU :-). These were big guys and we didn't let them sit on the cars, either. However, since then, I have hauled some beauty contestants on the rear shelf. That was much more fun than carrying football players. Coincidently, in light of recent posts, it was for the "Miss Chick" contest which is part of Broken Arrow, OK's "Rooster Days" (I'm not kidding--this is my home town). For this duty, we placed extra towels on either side of the rear window. The passenger-side seat was moved forward to allow the girl to put her feet behind the seat. Traditionally, the contestants had been carried by the '55-57 Thunderbird club, but they had a scheduling conflict and couldn't bring out enough cars. The organizer didn't know what a Miata was and she was afraid that the girls might be dissappointed at not getting to ride in the Thunderbirds. I assured her that they would not be dissapointed. When she saw what a Miata was, she was thrilled. Say Hi to Linda, Harold, and Chris for me Greg.
