From: Andre Robotewskyj Subject: ARGH! Dealer damages my car! Date: Wed, 5 Jul 1995 08:10:50 -0400
Hi ho, I purchased my new, R edition about 1 1/2 months ago. It's actually a '94 overstock- I guess the R isn't as popular as the cushier popular equipment package. I just took it in for 3000 mile maintenance this past weekend. Since the AC hasn't worked since I bought it, I asked them to take a look (I had assumed it only needed a freon charge- or whatever they use now). As it turned out, there's a computer problem. They ordered a new one. Fine. When I got home, I noticed about twelve. closely clustered gouges in the paint on the top surface of the driver's side sill. I can't imagine what the bone heads could have done to accomplish this (actually, I'm wondering if the idiots left a tool on the sill, and then slammed the door- I'll check the underside of the door today). Anyway, I have to assume they just gave the car back, thinking that either: 1) I wouldn't notice, or 2) by the time I noticed, I wouldn't know who to blame. I'm going to call the dealer today and speak with the manager. I'm afraid, however, that they're going to give me a hard time since I don't have any real proof. In the event they refuse to pay for the repair, what can I do? I'm thinking of the following: 1) Contact Mazda and bitch at them for a while 2) File a formal complaint with the better business beaurough (sp?) 3) Spam the auto news groups with the dealership & manager's name Any suggestions? The dealership is: Lake Shore Mazda 3434 N. Ashland Ave. Chicago, IL (312) 935-2200
