Subject: Stuck in reverse-Part III

Well, as some of you may recall, I had to have my 1990 Miata towed to the 
dealer after the shift rod bent and it became stuck in reverse and would 
shift into two gears at once.  Stu Akerman sent me a bulliten orginally 
from mazda describing the problem as an infrequent, but Mazda was aware 
that the problem existed and they would fix it free of charge between 
Oct. 1989 and Oct. 1990.  Unfortunatly, I am the 3rd owner of my car and 
the previous owner had no knowledge of the Special Service Program.

Well, I received a call from the dealer today saying that since my car 
is out of warantee with 63K miles, Mazda has no responsibility for the 
problem.  It seems that since it was a problem acknowledged by them, 
Mazda should at least cover some of the cost of the repair.  Obviously 
they didn't agree.  Well, so much for "The Mazda Way - an intense 
commitment to your total satisfaction."  (quoted from the cover of the
