The Ottawa Miata Club met last night for the first time, and we had a good chance to pore over the each other's cars. Of the 8 or so present, three had roll bars (not style bars), one of these was turbocharged, and another was Solo 1 prepared. There was a lot of interest in my mostly stock Baby, though, due to the number of cheap/free simple modifications I picked up from the list (THANK YOU ALL!). They were all impressed by the ashtray-cupholder, the kill switch, a homemade trunk wall protector (a small first-aid kit), and the like. Oh, I also sold a pile of Miata.net decals. The trick mod of the night, however, was an improved interior light. One of the members had mounted a stock interior light in the spot where the power window switches reside. It is almost exactly the same size, and throws light onto the dash and ignition switch. It was strange, being able to see the interior of the car and not just the footwells :) He wired the light in to one of the standard ones on the dashboard. Total cost - the price of a stock light at a junkyard or dealership and 3 feet of wire. I'll do this soon, and write up a set of detailed instructions. Keith Tanner and Baby, the winner of the most-in-need-of-new-tires award (47,000 miles on stock Bridgestones!) Next meeting: October 10th, 7 pm, 630 Lyon St. S. All welcome. PS-Arch - Dave Allen showed up - thanks for the name.
