I discovered the main reason for the vibration I'd been getting-- somehwere
along the line, probably when fixing the leaking coolant, I put the
airbag sensor bracket UNDER the airbox.  I've fixed that and put some cloth
tape on the hood rod, and the vibration has mostly subsided.  What remains
is a buzziness which actually seems to be coming from the exhaust.  
 
The most power gain seems to be between 4000 and 6000 RPM -- it still seems
restrained above 6000 and especially above 6500, probably because of my
stock exhaust.  Oh well, looks like my cost of ownership is about to go
way up...
