After attending the Cleveland meet, I knew I had to get personalized plates.
I thought about it for a while, looked at the Jaime's license plate list for
inspiration (and wanting to come up with something marginally original), then
called
the motor vehicles bureau:

Me: Would "MIATA" happen to be available?
DMV: No.
Me: Ok, how about MIATA-1, MX-5, TOP DOWN, ROADSTER, 92 MIATA, 92 MX5 (or any
other combinations thereof)?
DMV: No.
Me: All right.  Then how about KIDNTRNK?
DMV: (pause).  Hold on a second.  (muffled voices in background) Uh, no.  We
can't do something like that.
Me: Then BTR N SX is out, too?
DMV: You'll have to call back tomorrow -- you're way over the maximum 5
requests per day.

Bob (who also considered MAR 2 DEC, NOT4SNOW, and 4DCURVES, but decided on
"4 THE SUN"
