There are reasons for a more powerful amp than just getting more volume.
You will also get much cleaner, better sound. A larger amp will be
able to handle sending the power you want to the speakers, and a decent
amp will reduce the highly distorted transients you're now getting from
the stock shlock system. If you're going to invest in better speakers,
get the most from your investment and get a better amp to drive them.
The difference will be tremendous, even if you're sitting in your
driveway. Even if you don't spend big bucks for the amp it'll be an
improvement. You can always upgrade later (and forever...). Try to
get speakers and amp that are pretty well matched, unless an upgrade is
close on the horizon.

who just wanted a little bit better sound cheaply and got stuck in an
upgrade loop $$$
P.S. You might find a used amp for sale from someone upgrading theirs
(I just sold one myself).
