Paul Thompson posted a note on different agents, etc. to the net: Thanks for the reply, Paul. You can say that again, RE: different agents for the same company. Back in Oshkosh, WI we had no problem with suspending on-the-road coverage on our "good" car during the winter, and reinstating each spring. The agent was used to this, because a lot of people did it in WI, and also, he had an antique car himself (Model A, as I recall). When we got to DC, the agent never heard of suspending coverage on a car for several months out of the year. (On his behalf, I gather it's illegal to have a licensed car without liability insurance on it in MD - no matter if it's being driven or not. The canceling and reinstating of registration every few months would be more hassle and cost than the insurance money saved.) I'll have to push a bit on the agent, RE: Recreational coverage. All I was aware of, was the "special interest" (or whatever) coverage, and all its restrictions. I did check around about a year ago, and I couldn't find any coverage that would even come anywhere near the rates I'm paying now. State Farm is a pretty good deal, if you don't need any special attention. BTW, I like your primary transportation. Anne and I started playing with motorcycles just before we left WI, but when we got to DC and saw the way people drive around here - no way. It's been bad enough with a couple of small cars. I honestly believe one or both of us would have been seriously injured or dead by now, if we had regularly ridden bikes around here. Several years ago, we had a visit from some people we knew from WI. Dad and his two sons came out on a couple bikes. They were going to stay longer - had arranged a tour of the restoration facility for the Nat'l Air % Space Museum, where Anne works - but cut their visit short and left early just due to being terrified of riding in DC traffic. It's BAD on a bike around here! --Jack M. & KANSEI & 71 ZCAR-
