From: cn1580@coastalnet.com (Brent Rowse) Subject: Odor Solution Date: Sat, 2 Sep 1995 16:36:26 -0400
I got several replies to my odor question. The replies ranged from running the system all the time to taking the vehicle to an AC shop to have the ducts clean out. Several of the replies mentioned using Lysol to spray into the system, but none of them indicated where the intake for the blower is. Anyway here is what I would recommend. 1. Purchase a can of Lyson Antibacterial spray. 2. Put the top down, of course that is how it will be already if you are a die hard Miata Owner. 3. Turn the air selector control to recirculate. 4. Remove the glove box, there is one screw at each hinge. It is an easy process. 5. Once the glove box is removed you can look to the upper right and you will see where the intake for the blower is. 6. Turn the fan to high and spray the Lysol into the fan intake. 7. The can I purchased was a small can and I used the whole can. 8. There is a sponge that moves when one moves the air selector from outside to inside air. I changed the location of the sponge a few times so that it would get partially saturated with the Lysol. 9. Replace the glove box and enjoy the new smell of your car. I will post a message in the future if this procedure does not fix the problem for the long term. Now my car smells, like my dad would say, like a whore house. Thanks again to everyone that responded to my inquarry. Thanks and have a nice day, Brent Rowse ;-) cn1580@coastalnet.com '90 Red Miata named Yatta Plate "EMRLDISL"
