Item Subject: ding prevention (cont) Ding Things!! THAT'S the name of them! I wrote Carla privately that I have them, but I couldn't remember the name of either the product or the vendor. I got them from the vendor in the MCA mag (I think I mailed them a check and didn't try calling). Since I've been lucky/careful in my parking, I've only had to use them a whole twice, but it's greatly increased my peace of mind just knowing I've got them in the trunk. BTW, they curl up very nicely in the spare's wheel well (please, no comments from Dan S. et al who've got their spares underneath the car--I'm jealous enough of you guys as it is!). Kind of like one of those rubber strips they put on a lot of cars. The cover is a cheapo Kragen version, so it's a bit big, and it would be very easy to put the casing in. Don't know if I could get some kind of rubber strips that I could roll up and keep in the trunk. <<<<<< I too am in the same situation at work. Fortunately the spaces are fairly wide compared to the car so I haven't been hit yet...but I know it's coming! I recall in the Miata Magazine a while ago a product called "Ding Things". They were supposedly rolls of padded magnetized bumper-like material that you were suppose to cut to the desired length and then just stick them on the sides of your car when desired. They were described as flexible and would just roll up in the trunk. I remember trying to call them and getting no answer. If you (or anyone on the list) has any knowledge of the company (are they still in business?) or any similar product I'd be the second person (after Carla) who'd be interested!
