Hi- Found this 'news comment' on the net while wandering around this evening, and I thought the list would be interested in hearing... Quoted from Auto-by-Tel news page. "Z3 Price Blossoms, Production Begins File under It Was Too Good To Be True: BMW is upping the price on its long awaited roadster for buyers in the U.S. The price for the Z3, BMW's classier answer to the Mazda Miata, has been raised from an original $26,000 - $30,000 to an estimated street price of between $38,000 and $40,000. The Z3 has been a media darling since BMW announced that it would be the car of choice in Golden Eye, the latest movie in Ian Fleming's James Bond series, due out later this fall. This increase takes the Z3 out of the top-end budget sports car ranks and aligns it closer to BMW's well received 325i convertible. While the reviews are already pouring in the new convertible, production began only last week at their Spartanburg, SC plant. To accomodate the increase in production at this plant, BMW will scale back the number of 318is it will produce this year. BMW officials have stated in recent reports that this decline actually reflects current market demand on the 318i as well. There will be no delay in the production of 1996 325 V6 models out of the Spartanburg plant, scheduled to start in November, as a result of the Z3 according to BMW officials." Nuff said.
