12:24 PM OFFICE MEMO Time: Subject: God loves Miata owners 10/5/95 Date: Greetings Miata lovers: I wanted to tell everyone of my good fortune. Recently, I bought a 93 Blk/Red LE from a Honda Dealer, but it didn't come with the Tonneau Cover, Boot, the Hard Top or any of the other things that comes with the car when you buy it new. (Hard Top is optional) Plus I didn't know the sequence number. Well using the net as a resource, I contacted some of you, who were kind enough to give me some leads. *****THANKS to John Emerson and Darrell Camp who quickly and generously responded to my questions.***** Anyways, ... I've been pricing these items from the dealer and from aftermarket places and found that I would have to spend about $3k. ($2K Hard Top, $.3K ton cvr, $.6K black boot - why bother my interior is red) Plus not even Mazda could tell me my sequence number. Yesterday, I decided to have lunch at the beach (a little voice told me to go - proof that God loves Miata owners) When I got back to my car, I saw a note on my windshield. Thinking that I had got a parking ticket, I was relieved to see that it was just a note, which read: "Hello, I think that you bought the car that I traded in to Scott Robinson Honda. If you would like the original RED boot, Tonneau Cover & Hard Top, give me a call. ###-####" Well, I was thrilled! Not only could I get this stuff, find out the Seq. number, but I could talk to the original owner and find out the car's history. I called him and found out that he sold the car because he got divorced, but still really missed it. I told him that I paid $15.4K (after much haggling) and that he sold it for $18.5K and originally paid $27K for it. This was good news to me. Plus he said the car had Lo-Jack installed, which I didn't know. Anyways he offered me the Hard Top, Boot, Ton Cover, Lo Jack, the PR books that came with it, key chain with 2 keys and the seq no. , Car Cover, Front mask, and even threw in Meguir's plastic polish. He said that he kept all this stuff because the Honda Dealer was treating him badly. In fact I had asked them to call the owner to see if he had this stuff. They said they called him and that he didn't. They lied. They never called. He wanted a "fair price" and asked for $400 I gave him $500 (figured he deserved more for saving me 3 grand!) So now my car is complete and I am a very happy owner. Andy 93 Blk/Red LE # 834 of 1500
