While driving to NC for a Labor Day meeting, I drove through the Greenville/Spartanburg, SC area where the new BMW Z3 is being built. As I was driving, I saw this new car, a 2 seat light green convertible with the top down, that I did not recognize. Turned out to be a Z3 with a SC manufacturer's tag on it. It had apparently just come off the production line. I pulled up beside it and asked if they had a minute so I could see the car. Of course, the answer was, "Sorry, no." We stayed together for approximately 4-5 miles. I stayed right with them. Sort of nice when they said, "You have made some changes in your car, haven"t you" implying that since I was able to stay right with them, something had to be done to improve my Miata. Not wanting them to feel terrible, I simply replied, "Not much." (Actually, it is a stock '95.) Regarding the car itself, I did not think it was at all attractive. It had a number of what appeared to be engine vents on both sides (and if I remember correctly, something similar on the rear deck). There was no boot, so I am assuming the top is concealed under the back deck. The nose and hood appeared to be longer with a shorter rear deck. Frankly, I was not impressed. I kept thinking that I will take my Miata anytime. Regards to all... Dewaine Norris White '95 L Tampa Bay Area (South), FL
