A "DNS" is a "Domain Name Server" and its a server that usually holds a huge list of other servers it can see on the web. Think of it as your "table of contents" server. Whoever administers it could have filtered YAHOO out so nobody could see it... or, the yahoo server could have been down... try it again, I got right in! kjw & TIC-TAC ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Yahoo Author: Phredd at INTERNET Date: 11/2/95 3:07 PM Hey, gang: I tried to go to the Yahoo Automobiles Page this morning theoretically located at my bookmark address of: http://www.yahoo.com/Entertainment/Automobiles I think I originally got there from the Miata.Net page but only the CyberOne knows for sure. Anyway, all I could get from repeated tries was this dialog box: Netscape is unable to locate the server: www.yahoo.com This server does not have a DNS entry. Check the server name in the location (URL) and try again. Since I'm a Macintosh type and not a *real* computer geek, I haven't a clue what any of this means. To me, a "DNS entry" sounds like something that'd make you yell, "Yahoo." Does anybody know where my Yahoo has gone? PS: Of course, it could be my ISP. I've learned that "Infinet" suggests the number of problems subscribers can expect to experience there. Keep the Revs up!
