From: "Madhan Ramaswami" Subject: Shimmy Date: Wed, 1 Nov 1995 14:58:00 -0500
Hi y'all folks I've put on the hardtop for the winter, and guess what? The 67mph shudder/vibration/shimmy is gone!!! I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this happen to their cars .. ie the vibration goes away if the hardtop is put on ? Now it's smooooth cruising all the way to 83mph, where there's a slight shake, and then smooth cruising till thrill(95mph+) :-)) I have 28psi in the D60 tyres. Must get a transmission oil change before it gets really cold.. Is it easy to do it by oneself, or should i go to one of these quick-lube places? The plus points for doing it myself are that i have a set of ramps and a basic toolbox. The minus points are that it's cold outdoors, and the oil fill hole seems to be in an awkward place. Transferring the oil from the bottle to the gearbox without spilling some of it on myself.would be difficult :-)! Do any of the quick lube places offer synthetics to replace tranny oil? Thanks for any suggestions. -- madhan ramaswami "Today is the first day of the rest of your life - celebrate now!"
