I had the dealer install a new one, drove down the street to a store, came out and a crack was starting in the windshield right where the retainer ("thingee") was installed. The dealer and I surmised that the glass was under tension, relaxed when the piece broke, and when the new piece was installed, reapplying tension, the glass cracked. The windshield was replaced under warranty. Dennis B. Swaney Team "Rock hit new glass 3 weeks later"
