>>>Here in Chicagoland, we've been trained to instantly lock bumpers with the nearest truck if lights start flashing behind us. Even widows and orphans in Tercels will quickly scoot over to help block out the offending driver who thinks he's in Europe. This is America, for gosh sake. We don't need no stinking high beams. You're supposed to bob and weave, make mean faces and use your horn. Just kidding mostly, but most drivers hate flashers. It's not polite. Far better just to come barreling down the road. We see you. We'll move.<<< On the contrary, IT IS the polite way to signal that you want to pass. Its the standard all over the world. Only in our backward country do people tend to confuse this signal with an act intended to annoy. The problem is that we'll give any idiot with a pulse a license without first determining if they have the aptitude to handle one. If only we had the same driving license requirements as other parts of the civilized world. This form of moving road block is not put up with in Europe or Japan.
