But once you add more power, >better speakers, etc, they are not only unecessary, but they can also >ruin the soudstage (again depending on preferences...). i agree, it all depends on how it sounds "to you". i've upgraded to the Clearwater amp, door, and HR speakers, and have plenty of power to hear most everything even when blasting down the highway at 80mph (top-down of course). i'm not a "Golden Ears", so it sounds fine to me, certainly a vast improvement over stock, and it all just plugs into place. i still find the HR speakers to be very helpful for certain things - particularly spoken words, when listening to the radio. At highway speeds, you can't be too picky about "soundstage" - it's more a matter of whether you can hear it at all. with some of those frequences that blend into (or under) the road & wind noise, it's really helpful having the speaker close to your ears. of course, at lower speeds, you can afford to be more picky. so as you said, individual preferences, driving styles, etc. all play a role in the equation. just my $.02. -- Ken Buck /| Internet: kbuck@peritus.com \'o.O' ACK!
