Just a note to say goodbye to the list server for a while - there's just 
far too many useless (IMHO) off-topic threads right now, and the number 
seems to be increasing rapidly. It's just wearing deleting 40 messages to 
get to those precious two or three gems of technical insight or wit, so 
I'll bid you adieu for the moment, and switch to web site access for a  
while.
