RE: Having the lower mounted front plate catch on things, Tom: Come to think of it, this may be why we don't have a front plate now. Many months ago, Anne was commuting on the Interstate From/To Hell, I-295, and came upon a chunk of thrown off truck tire tread. She managed to straddle it, but it still took the front plate (and bracket) with it. So far, so good, we haven't been stopped for no front plate yet, but it's only a matter of time. I realize it's tough to integrate a relatively large and ugly flat plate into the front end design of the Miata, but I would have thought that Mazda could have done a bit better than they did - I mean, sticking a stamped metal strap bracket on the front end, right in the center of that beautifully curved nose, and sticking a flat plate on it, has got to be about the worst thing imaginable one can do to the lines of the car (on a routine basis, anyway). --Jack M.& KANSEI--
