Forgive me for not remembering who started this thread, but If you have speakers in there now, you don't need to waste the extra money (about twice the price) on the clearwater (or "Miata Specific" headrest speakers). Just open your headrest (unzip it) disconnect the little spade connectors and put them on your new speakers, and push'em in. When you buy the "miata specific" 3 1/2" speakers, your paying for the fact that retailers are tricking you into believing that you're a captive audience and the wiring harness to go in to the stock radio if you DIDN'T have h.r. speakers when you bought the car. Again, if you have Headrest speakers from mazda, go down to the local stereo shop and buy any set of 3 1/2" speakers. They WILL fit. (make sure they sound good before you buy 'em). The reason I know all this is because my '90 came not only with out h.r. speakers, but without the factory headunit. I wound up wiring my h.r.'s direct from my alpine headunit (driver's seat as rear speakers & pass. as front) and my door speakers through an alpine amp mounted in the trunk on MY OWN DESIGN trunk protector. (the lumber yard gave me a cut if 1/4" ply for free, and I cut it down). Very easy, and it beats paying $20 for plastic that could melt with an amp on it. If you need any tips on audio installs (etc.) don't hesitate to ask, I've put a LOT of effort into it. Jon -'90 Blue Blastin' tunes in the city! Team Blue Miata with the funky Black Hardtop
