Aw, c'mon, Mike, I can't believe that you think the net will go commercial in the future. I mean, look back at other communications technology over the past 50 years or so - where are the parallels? Well, yeah, sure, TV has commercials, but then we were all promised that pay TV would eliminate all those hateful and disgusting commercials, with only one low, low monthly payment. They were almost right. Those of you with CATV have that monthly payment (I leave it to you to determine how low it is), and of course you have no commercials with CATV. (There are quite a few "sponsor messages" and "product information announcements," however.) OK, so you might argue from your point of view, that TV has gone commercial. But what about other technology? The phone company? When was the last time you were interrupted at dinner by an automated message trying to sell you something? Hey, I dunno about you, but this hasn't happened to me in MONTHS! (Because I haven't bothered to answer the nearly incessantly ringing phone at dinner, in months.) So, what has this to do with Miatas? Well, pay for that cable service AND watch those ads, AND answer that phone - you never know when you might find out about a fabulous deal on a Miata or some aftermarket goodie you can't live without - right? --Jack M.
