FWIW, I happen to be driving out to purchase my hardtop in a few hours. Last night, I cut the holes and put in the side mount striker plates. It's really (I mean REALLY) easy. No, I didn't have the trim panels with the holes in them. I took my soldering gun, with a flattened tip (intended for cutting plastic I think) and cut out the ovals. (first, I located the holes by heating a nail with a blowtorch--cool!-- and stuck it through from behind). You ought to go down to the local dealer and let him show you a panel with the hole so you know what it looks like. Then call Tommy at Roebuck. The striker plates were just north of $20 each. For fourty some odd dollars, it's definately worth the security. And I don't even have a hardtop yet!! (well, first thing in the morning).
